Reading for pleasure is one of the best things your child can do to improve their literacy skills. Subsequently, a reading program is part of every student's nightly English Homework: between fifteen and twenty minutes per night. A reading log to record English Reading Homework will be given to students in both Years 7 and 8 and we ask parents to sign it each week.

As a joint English/Library initiative, students in Years 7-9 are also encouraged to participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC). It requires students to read twenty books between 6 March and 25 August, 2017. Fifteen books need to be from the PRC 5-6 or 7-9 lists and five can be of the student's own choosing.
Year 7 students will be receive the PRC Reading Log during their Library lesson. A list of the books on the 7-9 Challenge is available in the Albion Park High School Library or can be viewed at:

Please help your child to improve their skills. Encourage them to read every night and sign the Reading Log.
