Year 7 students thoroughly enjoyed studying poetry in their English lessons last term, which culminated in an opportunity for students to submit their poems to the Red Room Poetry competition. To enter the competition, students had to write a poem about a significant object; something that was symbolic of a special memory or loved one. Over 40 Year 7 students entered a poem, which is a fantastic display of enthusiasm and commitment.
Composing poetry can be very challenging, but Year 7 students rose to the task and applied an outstanding amount of effort to learn about poetic techniques and then apply these to their own poems. All entries will be published on the Red Room Company's website from 26 September.

Well done Year 7.
