Principal's Message

Since its inception in 1991 Albion Park High School has established a strong reputation as an innovative, progressive, well resourced and caring
comprehensive high school.

The school and its students have been recipients of many prestigious awards.  Since 2001 APHS has earned three Director-Generals Awards for outstanding achievement.  Five Year 12 students during this time have also been awarded the Minister of Education Award for Excellence.  The most recent of these was Alisha Kawalla the 2007 school captain who was honoured for  scholarships, sporting prowess and leadership capacity.

Albion Park High School is proud of its comprehensive charter and strives to ensure that all students are challenged across all aspects of  the school curriculum. That curriculum has a blend of specialist programs, catering for academic extension, performance skills in the creative arts,   leadership and civics opportunities and high  performance sport and sports science skills.

The school has also been a recent recipient of the NSW Vocational Education in Schools Excellence Award. The Vocational Education and Training opportunities provided include school-based traineeships, seven vocational frameworks studied in the senior school (IT, sports coaching, construction, hospitality, metals and engineering, business services and retail operations), work studies for junior students and student-operated businesses in hospitality and business services.  In 2009 school based apprenticeships will be introduced for senior students.

The school is equally proud of its tradition in student leadership initiatives and in particular the operation of student-led forums and programs such as the sports committee, student representative council and peer support and mediation programs. Each  of these programs reinforces the shared value of our school and community and provides an outlet for students to be involved in problem-solving and community based projects.

The centrepiece of Albion Park High is, however, the school wellbeing program which embraces all school activities and which aims to foster self-discipline, confidence, teamwork, tolerance and goal setting.

The school measures its overall success through the manner in which its students are able to fully participate as active members in all aspects of their community and, as such, effective citizenship is the school’s most desired quality.
